Hamilton Park Cemetery is located in the rural setting of Newstead. This expansive facility has been devloped in a park-like manner and as a result has a peaceful and majestic landscape of trees and shrubs, and garden borders.
Hamilton Park Cemetery is operated by the Hamilton City Council and has served the community since 1957, with the crematorium and chapel facilities operating since 1963. The cemetery currently operates on fourteen hectares (14ha) with a further eighteen hectares (18ha) available for future development.
The cemetery aims to cater for individual cultural and religious needs and will continue to evolve to meet changing community needs.
Council is also responsible for Hamilton West Cemetery, which opened in 1869 and was closed in 1975, and Hamilton East Cemetery, which opened in 1866. Activities at Hamilton East Cemetery are currently limited to reserve plot burials and ash interments.
Staff at Hamilton Park Cemetery and Crematorium share a wealth of experience and can help with information on all aspects of burial and cremation services, and memorial options available at the city cemeteries. |
