Indian Char Bagh Garden

Hamilton's expansive public gardens owe much to the foresight of the city's founders. Early plantings by the Hamilton Beautification Society set the scene for the future beautiful walkways along the Waikato River, enjoyed by many city residents on a daily basis.

We are spoilt for attractive areas to walk and play, from tree lined Steele Park in Hamilton East, to the boardwalk around Lake Rotoroa, and the jewel in the crown, Hamilton Gardens.

Hamilton Gardens

Hamilton Gardens is the most popular visitor attraction in the Waikato.

These stunning gardens have been designed and created to tell 'The Story of the Garden' beautifully and sympathetically.

With the changing seasons, Hamilton Gardens offer something different on every visit.

The gardens also play host to a number of exhibitions and events each year, ranging from weddings to art exhibitions and outdoor theatrical productions.

The Verandah Cafe and Function Centre at Hamilton Lake

The Verandah Cafe and Function Centre at Hamilton Lake Domain

The Verandah is Hamilton Lake’s lakefront cafe and function centre which opened in 2009.

The design of the building allows for spectacular views of Lake Rotoroa for all to enjoy and certainly compliments developments at the Lake Domain over recent years. The facility offers a broad range of services, including an 80 seat cafe, kiosk and function rooms that will offer flexibility to all users. Whether a nice lunch, an ice cream for the family or that all important wedding, The Verandah provides for all.

The Verandah is designed by architects Chibnall Swann and incorporates ecologically sustainable design including features like natural day-lighting and rainwater harvesting.
