Resource consents

The Planning and Guidance Unit at Hamilton City Council focuses on the implementation and enforcement of Hamilton city's District Plan. The unit's role is to provide information and guidance related to resource consent applications and enquiries on the District Plan and the Resource Management Act.

Building consents and information

Build Hamilton is an online information service for anyone with a building project, whether you are a home handyperson, residential builder, property developer or involved in the local building industry. The buildhamilton site is provided by Hamilton City Council.

This information portal covers everything from 'Do I need a building consent and how do I get one?' to environmentally sustainable housing (Eco-design) and answers to those building questions.  Check it out at:

Other building information

The government announced the establishment of a weathertightness service to help owners of 'leaky buildings'. This website will keep you informed of progress towards assistance as it happens.
