Council offers numerous opportunities for the community to participate in its decision-making processes throughout the year.

Council informs Hamilton residents of when proposed plans and policies are available for public submissions through the City News magazine and other media mechanisms.

    Draft Minor Review of the Twin Stadia Development Plan and Management Plan:

  • Council has prepared a Draft Minor Review of the Twin Stadia Development Plan and Management Plan as required under the Reserves Act 1977. The minor review proposes the inclusion of Willoughby Park and Fred Jones Park within the management plan, changes to the purpose and use of the Mill Street field (previously referred to in the management plan as the No. 2 field), and an update of the management plan in general.

    Council's Consultation Policy

    Council adopted its own Consultation Policy called 'People and Participation' in December 1999, as well as a set of internal guidelines for community consultation. The Consultation Policy describes when and how Council will seek feedback from the public before making decisions.

    Council most recently reviewed the Consultation Policy in 2005. A number of issues were identified and recommendations for improvements to the policy and current practice made. As a result, the policy and guidelines are in the process of being updated.
