Neighbourhood Development

The Neighbourhood Development Team consists of four full-time Neighbourhood Advisor's who are based in in the East, West, North and South areas of the city, and a Team Leader based centrally at Council's offices in Garden Place.

What do we do?

Most importantly, we encourage and participate in collaborations between community, service provides and government agencies to improve well-being in our city.

We provide:

  • Advice and information on Council Policy, Strategy and submission issues and priority needs in local neighbourhoods
  • A link between Council and community to identify current issues and priority needs in local neighbourhoods
  • Support for community initiatives through helping your source funding and promote your events/activities
  • Links to service providers and agencies that can assist you if we can't
  • Assistance in running events or activities that target the wider community
  • Open and transparent consultation on issues that effect you.

We are guided by the Hamilton Social Well-Being Strategy's five priority areas:

  1. City Leadership/Collaboration
  2. Community Capacity and Pride
  3. Vibrant Young People
  4. Quality of Life
  5. Community Strategy
