Objective
To prevent reduced traffic visibility and damage to underground and overhead services by unauthorised planting.
Policy

Planting on verges and reserves will not be permitted without the prior approval of the Council.

Private property owners will be asked, under the supervision of the Council, to remove trees and shrubs which may cause damage to public services, or which are, or may cause a traffic hazard. In the event of owners failing to remove the plants, staff are authorised to remove such trees and shrubs.

Trees, or shrubs and tall plantings will not be permitted within 20 metres of intersections or adjacent to bus stops, pedestrian crossings and school entrances.
