![]() WEL Networks Horsham Downs SubstationHamilton City Council received notice of a requirement from WEL Networks Limited for the establishment and operation of an 'electricity substation' (Horsham Downs Substation). The site is located fronting the Borman Road extension currently being built, approximately 50 metres west of the Borman Road/Resolution Drive intersection, in Rototuna. The nature of the proposed public work is the establishment, construction, operation, maintenance, replacement, repair and minor upgrading of a substation, and parts of, and works for, or relating to, electricity transformation and distribution. The substation will consist of a 37 metre by 9 metre building approximately 9 metres in height that houses the transformer equipment, surrounded by a metalled yard and landscaping strip that varies in width between 2 and 3 metres. The proposed works are discussed in detail in Annexure 4 'Description of the Project' of the report 'Horsham Downs Substation, New Substation Build - Notice of Requirement' prepared by the Environmental Challenge Ltd. StatusOn 20 February 2008 WEL Networks Ltd (WEL) accepted the recommendations of the Statutory Management Committee (the Committee) to confirm the designation subject to a number of conditions.
