Bos, Peter |
Peter Bos first stood for Council in 1998 promising "straight-talk, hard work".
He fought against allowing brothels in the community. He backed the Waikato Stadium when the going was tough.
For the past three years Peter has served on the following committees: Community & Leisure, Finance & Audit and is a Deputy Chair of Statutory Management.
He has been deeply involved in the Rangiriri Project, to restore this vessel to remind us of our city heritage.
He was instrumental and guided our recent ANZAC Day Menin Gate project by bringing the Belgium buglers and their mayor to Hamilton on this memorable occasion.
Peter has lived in the East Ward for 29 years, is married to Jan with three sons aged 21 to 31.
He has a record of getting things done and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for community groups.
Support Peter for another three years of "straight-talk, hard-work". |

Bushell, Rex
|
I am the owner/manager of a successful and upmarket central city café which I started two years ago and enjoy interaction with a wide range of people on a daily basis. Prior to working in the hospitality industry I was involved in a small family subdivision and some spec house projects.
Over the years I have learnt a lot about how our city works. Councillors need to exercise leadership in working with other agencies and are required to recognise and consider the views of all residents when making decisions. In making decisions they must have an open mind with no bias. Being a councillor is a governance role. It is about balancing views, resources and needs, and making decisions that are best for the community.
I am up to this role and ask that you vote me onto the team. |

Chesterman, Gordon
|
I have worked hard representing you on council and ask for your vote as mayor or councillor.
I'm chairman of council's City Development Committee and serve on Transport, Community and Leisure, Events, Contracts and Parking.
I'm proud to be part of a very successful council team.
Hamilton is now widely acknowledged as a city on the move.
I've advocated for better buildings, heritage protection, urban design, tighter controls on ugly blocks of flats, and property owners rights.
I've opposed neighbourhood brothels, supported arts and culture, sporting and other community projects such as the hydrotherapy pool.
I'm chairman of Waikato Institute of Technology and a community elected member of the Waikato District Health Board.
I've been a board member of Hamilton International Airport, Waikato Rugby Union, Chamber of Commerce, Radio Tainui and New Zealand president of the Public Relations Institute.
Your vote ensures proven leadership, council experience and community commitment. |

Dickson, Matiu
|
I offer a different and new perspective with proven leadership skills and experience in local government. I am passionate about Hamilton and its potential as a vibrant urban centre.
Senior lecturer in law at the University of Waikato for 12 years, I want to promote Hamilton as a global centre for tertiary study and excellence.
As chairman of the Hillcrest High School board of trustees, I support initiatives for young people to flourish in the city.
Present chairman of the Kirikiriroa Maori Urban Authority for seven years and member of various government bodies advising on the Public Works Act and to the Pharmac board.
Past member of the inaugural Tauranga District Council where I chaired the Planning Committee. I offer my extensive experience in local government.
I want what is best for Hamilton and will work as a councillor to achieve this goal. |

Hennebry, Roger
|
Re-elect Roger Hennebry.
I have enjoyed meeting many of you and working on your behalf during two terms on council.
I am a member of both Statutory and City Development committees and fully support progression of future urban and city design.
As Chairman of Finance and Audit, and Contracts committees I have been outspoken on the city's growing debt.
Council's ambitious 10 year vision will require prudent financial management and rigorous planning.
City ratepayers face $1 billion in capital works and $546 million debt in nine years time - without spending another penny.
Hamilton must grow affordably; I am aware you the people are the city's most important asset.
I am asking for two votes:
One to re-elect me as your councillor for another term, and a second for me as your mayor.
Let's make a progressive Hamilton affordable for everyone as we take our city into the future. |
|

Landman, Jane
|
I am standing for our heritage, our environment, our community.
My vision is for a city that protects and is proud of its heritage, one that embraces sustainability and protects its environment and one that cares for its people, including its most vulnerable citizens. I believe that council has a lot of work to do in these areas and I would like to be instrumental in seeing that happen.
My working background has been in education, administration and community. I have a degree in English and psychology B.Soc.Sci, an honours degree in psychology and a diploma in secondary teaching. For six years I have been the coordinator of Waimarie:Hamilton East Community House which involves everything from project management, accounts, funding, personnel, networking, counselling to washing tea towels.
I can be contacted at janelandman@yahoo.co.nz or phoning 858 3453 (work) or 856 7045 (res). |

Mahood, Pippa |
City councillor since 1986 – currently deputy mayor.
Hospice Waikato - trustee since 1981.
Elected Waikato District Health Board member – for the last three years.
I have enjoyed being part of a stable, committed council that has made real strides for the first time in a decade.
Through council's steady effective leadership, the city has gained respect as progressive and innovative, from both our community and government alike.
I seek your support again, to allow me to continue the unfinished business that has been progressed during the last three years, furthering Hamilton's development as one of New Zealand's foremost cities.
With sensible, reasoned debate, the next council can build on Hamilton's growing maturity; relish and promote our successes; manage sustainable growth and celebrate our diverse community.
I am passionate about Hamilton, and am considered caring, thoughtful, balanced in approach and knowledgeable by my peers in the community. |

Mooney, Joseph
|
This is a city with huge potential, with a very diverse, young and fast growing population. Everyone of all ages, races, beliefs, talents and education have got a lot to offer to this city, and I want to facilitate ways to harness this potential.
I'm 28 years old studying law and I've come to realise that law is the social DNA of humanity, and everyone in society is like blood in the human body, politics being the heart pumping blood around the social body. A strong, healthy heart makes a strong, healthy body and a strong, healthy council makes a strong healthy Hamilton city.
To use a racecar analogy, Hamilton has a very powerful engine in its people and its infrastructure and is rearing to go, but it needs great drivers to steer it into the future. I'll be one of those drivers.
Hamilton - city of the future

Orgad, Sehai |
I will bring a new voice and fresh perspective to the council table. I am passionate about Hamilton and want to contribute to our community by being a councillor whom people can identify with and approach to talk about the issues that affect them.
I am currently serving my second term as President of Waikato Students' Union and completing my Masters in Management Studies.
My generation needs to contribute to the society in which we live and I would like the opportunity to do so. We need to be represented at the top table in Hamilton to keep everyone's hopes and visions alive.
I believe that we need to care for and look after each other, providing a stable, enjoyable, active environment for the development of our futures. The challenge is to instil a sense of ownership of the city within the community
