This Economic Development Strategy sets our vision for the Hamilton economy.  It identifies five theme areas that when addressed will help the economy grow.

  • Leadership for Hamilton
  • A thriving business environment
  • Building on economic strengths
  • Attracting and growing talent
  • Developing an enterprise culture
Working in partnership

A group of Hamilton agencies work together, exchange ideas and explore potential opportunities in economic development.  Each agency has committed to work in partnership to deliver actions under the five themes of the Economic Development Strategy for Hamilton.

Progress on the strategy

Strong progress has been made across all five theme areas since the strategy was signed in August 2008.
Many of the actions have been completed.  Some have led to the establishment of new organisations such as Opportunity Hamilton and Soda Inc.  The Digital Hamilton study was also carried out, leading to new actions that will contribute to economic development through information technology.
Because of these changes the partner agencies are now reviewing the flagship projects.

Progress reports

Every few months a report is prepared on progress with the flagship projects.  These reports contain more information about the projects and are available to view:
