From time to time, recruitment agencies make contact with us with candidates who they think would be suitable for vacancies we are advertising.
To make this easier for the agency and the candidate, this page is to explain the process we go through. |
How we do business with recruitment agencies |
As a rule, we don't enter into preferred supplier arrangements with recruitment agencies. Instead, we work in partnership with agencies who:
- we have built a relationship with;
- are specialised in a particular field and are able to source candidates to fit the requirements of our roles;
- we are confident understand the diverse, yet specific, needs of our business to provide high calibre candidates, and
- we receive good service from.

How can agencies put their candidates to us? |
For the majority of our roles, we will do our own direct recruiting. Our Career Centre on this website and networks provide us with a good source of high calibre applicants for the majority of our roles, meaning we don't need to use recruitment agencies very often.
However, if as an agency representative, you see a particular role which you think you have the perfect candidate for, then we are happy to consider the applicant - but you need to provide us with all the information we need for our decision making:
- comprehensive candidate CV;
- your terms and conditions;
- your most competitive fee structure - we have a number of agencies vying to do business with us and we'd like yours to stand out;
- any key information about the candidate which might help us in our decision making - such as immigration/visa status, salary or hours of work expectations etc.
Simply, email all of this information to us at vacancies@hcc.govt.nz for consideration. |
What happens next? |
Once we have received your candidate details, we will pass the information on to the recruiting manager who will consider them along with all other candidates who have applied for the role.
Our managers will consider all candidates and we will be in touch with you after the closing date to let you know the outcome for your candidate.
