Council's 10 activity groups

Hamilton City Council provides considerable services and facilities in delivering on its vision for a vibrant Hamilton.

This includes planning and deciding on Hamilton's long-term direction and ensuring that Council acts in the best interests of the community.

Its powers are given through the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA) to carry out its role as a local authority. It aims to provide for democratic and effective local government that recognises the diversity of the city's communities and to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of communities, in the present and for the future.

Council has structured its activities by the 10 groups listed below. Detailed information on each of the 10 groups of activities can be found in the provided links to Council's 2009-19 Long-Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP).
